Licensing Art….Relief For High S/H!

Abstract Art by Sharon Cummings

You can license my work and save money.  Even for PERSONAL use!

You’ve found one of my prints online and you need a large size.  You love it!  But what you do not love is the high shipping and handling charges associated with transporting such a large canvas.  There is a solution!  I am happy to license my work to you for your personal and/or business use. Why pay 300 – 400 in shipping charges when you can find a local printer who can use one of my high resolution images to make you exactly what you want for a lot lower price!

The process is easy.  I have a simple legal contract for us to sign and I send you an invoice.  Once paid, I put the high resolution image into a Dropbox folder for you.  You then share that with your printer so they can make your print for…

The Rainbow Bridge…

Abstract Art by Sharon Cummings

Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge… On days like today, I think of my sweet Sampson the Great Dane.  It’s raining and stormy out.  His terror over thunder was immense.  He has crossed over to the other side.  It is a comforting thought to think he is now in a place with sunshine and green meadows everyday…

This is my “Monday” look.  I can just feel it!  With all of the copious administrative work I’ve done so far, there is barely a glimmer of hope that I will get to something fun today.  But that’s almost a smile and I am trying to get there. 🙂

SLIP SLIDIN’ A-W-A-Y

Blue hour dawn long exposure art photo SLIP SLIDIN’

Jo Ann Tomaselli ~ Fine Art Photography

A sliver of a moon appears in the blue-hour dawn as sunrise breaks the horizon.

A long exposure paints the sky deep blue and the water silken.

Mother Nature beautifully illuminates the Carolina Coast – yet again.  Amen!

SAILING TO P-A-R-A-D-I-S-E!

Jo Ann Tomaselli ~ Visual & Verbal Reflections

The clouds in the colorful sky at sunrise look like the sails of a boat SAILING

Jo Ann Tomaselli ~ Fine Art Photography

On this particular morning the colorful clouds at sunrise swept across the sky and formed, what looked to me,
the angular shape of a boats’ sails.  The long exposure added a dreamy movement to the sky & water
and I felt I could peacefully sail-away wrapped in the beauty of the day.

Sometimes the landscape brings to mind a particular song which inspires the image title.
On this morning I found myself humming the Christopher Cross song ‘Sailing’

Well, it’s not far down to paradise, at least it’s not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquility

It’s not far to never-never land, no reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy of innocence again

Well it’s not far back to sanity, at least it’s not for me
And…

Acting like a M-A-D dog?

Jo Ann Tomaselli ~ Visual & Verbal Reflections

Dog Art Graffiti in Cuba MAD DOG

Jo Ann Tomaselli ~ Fine Art Photography

When I find myself mad at global events the 1st thing I do is complain.
Followed by the question: But what can I do about it?
Not often enough do I ask:
How can I put my wishes for a better world into action? How can I serve?

“Our present time is indeed a … critical time
hovering between the wish
and the inability to believe.
Our complaints are like arrows
shot up into the air at no target and,
with no purpose,
they only fall back upon our own heads
and destroy ourselves” William Temple

I imagine Martin Luther King said it best when he wrote:
“Anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve.
You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve.
You don’t have to know about Plato and…

A large statue of a gold reclining Buddha diptych on black background RECLINING BUDDHA

Jo Ann Tomaselli ~ Fine Art Photography

A reclining Buddha is a rarely found statuary pattern and represents the Buddha during his last illness, about to enter parinirvana – nirvana after death.  In this iconic pose he is always depicted lying on his right side, head resting on a cushion or right elbow and his hand supporting his head.

One usually finds these icons in temples but I happened upon this massive sculpture while hiking Mount Phousi in Luang Prabang, Laos. The statue is so long from head to foot that I had to split it into 2 images and, as you can see below, I’m not very good at lining things up!

SAMSUNGSAMSUNG

Prior to this hike I’d injured my knee and considered staying at the hotel but Laos is a land of enchantment and reluctant to miss anything in this stunningly beautiful country, I decided to take…

Polaroid transfer image art The Rusty Nail

Jo Ann Tomaselli ~ Fine Art Photography

I’m totally stoked!

My image THE RUSTY NAIL has been selected for the prestigious 2015 ArtFields art competition!

Arriving on New Years day the acceptance letter read:

Dear Artist, Congratulations! Your submission to ArtFields® received the combined rating to move forward and compete for $100,000 in cash prizes. The submission process by a panel of visual arts professionals  was extremely competitive.  ArtFields will be a diverse competition, exhibiting approximately 400 works from across the Southeast. The accepted artwork represents a wide range in subject matter, medium, and emerging to established artists. We are enthusiastic about exhibiting your artwork in Lake City, SC during ArtFields from April 24-May 2, 2015.

Limited to one submission, I chose a piece from a transfer film process I started working with this year.

The digital image was taken at The Rusty Nail – a downtown…

Two strangers shaking hands O.C. and Alice

Jo Ann Tomaselli ~ Fine Art Photography

I believe I live in W-O-N-D-E-R-Land!

For where else but Wonderland could I introduce 2 strangers to each other, get them to hold hands, take a photograph and win an award for the image?

On October 11th I participated in the Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk in Wilmington, NC. It’s an annual event where on the same day in over 1,000 cities world-wide, 20,000+ photographers take to the streets with their cameras to win some really cool prizes.

Hence, while on my walk seeking the prize winning subject, I happened upon young Alice who was sitting with her mother at a quaint sidewalk cafe table @ 9 Bakery & Lounge . The city of Wilmington may be familiar to you because this year USA TODAY readers voted it the #1 Best American Riverfront 2014 and FORBES magazine rated Wilmington…
