Don’t Be Crabby…

Through Open Lens

I would like to introduce to you guys a “Atlantic Ghost Crab” also known as “Sand Crab” or “White Crab”.  I came across him at the beach in Dominican Republic.  This little guy was so brave, that even though I kept coming closer he stood his ground and didn’t budge. So, that made him a perfect model for a photo shoot.

Interesting Fact: Atlantic Ghost Crabs can hold oxygen in their air sacs for about six weeks. The crab has club-shaped eyestalks and it boasts of a 360° vision. This helps it see and catch insects that are even in mid-air.  ( )
